Apple last week announced two new iPhones, both with bigger screens than their predecessors: a 4.7-inch model called the iPhone 6, and a bigger, 5.5-inch model dubbed the iPhone 6 Plus.Analysts expect the new iPhones will be Apple's best-selling iPhones ever, garnering marketshare from rival Samsung, which has made a smartphone with a larger screen for years.Apple did not -- and likely will not -- break out how many of each model it sold.The iPhone 6 Plus, the 5.5-inch "phablet" (nicknamed because it's so large that it's part phone, part tablet) was listed as out of stock on Apple's website just hours after it went on sale Sept. 12.Two million pre-orders for the iPhone 5 were placed when that phone was announced in 2012.The phone will be available in stores starting Friday.

Google Earth to help predict malari on maps
Scientists are developing an online platform,using data on Google Earth Engine, that health workers around the world can use to predict where malaria is likely to be transmitted. The goal is to enable rescue poor countries to wage more targeted drives against the mosquito-bore disease, most of them children, researchers at the University of California, San Francisco said.
Panipat teen develops a device that converts breath signals into speech
Arsh Shah Dilbagi is also the participant from Asia to enter this year's Google Global Science Fair.
Arsh Shah Dilbagi, a 16-year-old from Panipat, has been selected for this year Google's Global Science Fair. The teenager will be showing a device that enables people with developing disabilities to communicate using only their breath. Arsh is the only finalist from Asia to participate in the Google Science Fair.
Arsh will showing a device called 'Talk', which features a sensor that picks up person's breath via Morse code, and then translates into speech. According to Arsh, the device will help speech impaired and paralysed people to communicate. The teenage points out that his Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device is world's fastest and cheapest."AAC devices available in the market are very expensive, slow, bulky and not generic. I decided to find a better solution — an AAC device which is faster, portable and generic and costs only $80 (Rs 5000), making it affordable to the large population," he explains.
He adds, "In future, I would like to add auto-predictions to my computing engine and integrate TALK with modern technology like Google Glass to make it easier for people with development disabilities."

An 'official' price cut out of iPhone 5S by Apple India
Apple fans are rejoicing at the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the big-screen smartphones that the company unveiled earlier this week. But even though the two new models enjoy the limelight, last year's flagship smartphone, iPhone 5S, remains a part of Apple's portfolio.
The Cupertino, California-based company had said that the 16GB and 32GB variants of iPhone 5S will remain available in the market, along with iPhone 5C 8GB. However, there was no word on the revised prices of the these models at the event.
Now, Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom has tweeted that Apple has given an official price cut to the two iPhone 5S variants ahead of the India launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. According to the tweet, iPhone 5S 16GB will now cost Rs 44,500, down from Rs 53,500. Similarly, iPhone 5S 32GB's official price has come down from Rs 62,500 to Rs 49,500.
However, buyers can purchase the base variant of iPhone 5S online for much less. Online retailer Amazon.in is selling iPhone 5S 16GB for Rs 34,999, while the same model costs Rs 36,000 on Flipkart.
On the other hand, the 32GB variant costs around Rs 56,000 online; it is expected that this official price cut will bring down the price of this model as well.
There is no word whether or not Apple will start a buyback offer for iPhone 5S, like it did for iPhone 5C earlier this year. However, the 8GB iPhone 5C can be purchased for Rs 22,500 via online retailers without the buyback offer.
Apple on September 9 posted on its India website that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be launched in the country on September 26, later changing the date to October 17. However, it then removed the launch date from the India website altogether and has also not given an official statement regarding the rollout of the new iPhones in the country.

Rs 10,000 off on Galaxy K Zoom price
NEW DELHI: Samsung's Galaxy K Zoom smartphone, which started selling in India in early July, is now available at Rs 19,999 on Amazon India. The phone was exclusively launched on Amazon India at Rs 29,990. Amazon mentions that the special price is valid for a few days. The phone has still not been listed on Samsung's official e-store.

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the major festivals celebrated in India with great enthusiasm and devotion. The festival marks the birthday of Lord Ganesha; the Lord of knowledge, wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. The festival is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi. This day, observed as one of the most auspicious in the Hindu religion, is widely celebrated especially in the state of Maharashtra.
History
The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi finds its origin in the Maratha reign, with Chatrapati Shivaji starting the festival. The belief lays in the story of the birth of Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Although there are various stories attached to his birth, the one most relevant is shared here. Goddess Parvati was the creator of Ganpati. She, in the absence of Lord Shiva, used her sandalwood paste to create Ganesha and put him to guard while she had gone for bathing. While she was gone, Lord Shiva got into a fight with Ganesha as he did not allow him to enter, as per his mother`s orders. Enraged, Lord Shiva cut off Ganesha`s head. When Parvati saw this sight, she took the form of Goddess Kali and threatened to destroy the world. This worried everyone and they requested Lord Shiva to find a solution and calm the rage of Goddess Kali. Shiva then ordered all his follower
Celebration
Ganesh Chaturthi preparations commence from almost a month before the festival. The celebrations last for around ten days (from Bhadrapad Shudh Chaturthi to Ananta Chaturdashi). On the first day a clay idol of Lord Ganesha is installed in homes. Homes are decorated with flowers. Temples witness the visit of large number of devotees. Poojas are performed and bhajans are chanted. Often, families gather together to celebrate the festival. Localities organize and arrange for pandals and install large idols of Lord Ganesha to celebrate the festival with friends and family. On the final day of the celebrations, the idol of Lord Ganesha is taken on the streets. People exhibit their enthusiasm and joy in the form of dancing and singing on the streets along with the idol. The idol is finally immersed in the river or sea. The day witnesses a large number of devotees expressing their happiness and offering their prayers.
Ganesh Chaturthi Pujan
Ganesha pujan starts from installing a clay idol of Lord Ganesha in your home. Various dishes are cooked for offering (bhog). The idol is given a bath with pure water and then decorated with flowers. Jyoti is lite and then the aarti begins. Various bhajans, and mantras are chanted at this time. It is believed that chanting the mantras with complete devotion brings life to the idol. It is also believed that during this period, Ganesha visits the home of his devotees and bring prosperity and good fortune with him. For the same reason the day is observed as a very auspicious day.
Festival Dishes
Although there are a large number of sweets offered to Lord Ganesha during the pujan, but Modak is known to be the lord`s favourite sweet and is therefore one of the main dishes made on this day. Other dishes include Karanji, ladu, barfi and pede.
